Workshops: Careers in medicine and healthcare

The following Careers Advisers’ workshops are open to all Swansea University students.  No need to book a place – just turn up.   All sessions are informal with the opportunity to ask questions.

Wednesday 2nd May, 13.00 -14.30 Grove 330, Singleton Park Campus

Where Next? A Research Career in Medicine and HealthCare.

This session will include:

  • An overview of Research careers in these fields
  • Personal experiences
  • Examples of relevant further study (including Masters by Research and PhDs)

 

Wednesday 9th May, 13.00 -14.30 Grove 330, Singleton Park Campus 

Where Next? A Career in Enterprise and Innovation in Medicine and Health Care.

This session will include:

  • What is enterprise and innovation and how does it relate to these fields?
  • An outline of support for enterprise at Swansea University
  • How to break in to an emerging field

 

Wednesday 16th May, 13.00 -14.30 Grove 330, Singleton Park Campus 

Where Next? Gaining experience and applying for Careers in Medicine and Health Care. This session will include:

  • An overview of popular options e.g. Graduate Entry Medicine, PG Dip Physicians Associate, Masters. Where are they available and how and when to apply.
  • How to write a strong personal statement (for GEM, though principles apply to all post grad courses)
  • Ideas for gaining experience including Internships and international opportunities through the University.
  • The perspective of recruiters
