British Council intern scheme

Posted on behalf of the British Council:

The British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide. We call this work ‘cultural relations’. Each year we work with millions of people across 110 countries, connecting them with the United Kingdom, sharing our cultures and the UK’s most attractive assets: English, the Arts, Education and our ways of living and organising society.

Every summer, we bring new ideas to the organisation by taking on between 10 and 12 interns for a 12-week period from June – September. We learn from having new talent in the organisation during the summer months; plus, we gain an insight into how we can deliver the best opportunities for young people. In return, you learn new skills while on a paid internship, and make some useful contacts for the future. If you are keen to learn more about working for a global charity and to make a real difference over the summer then this opportunity is definitely for you!

As part of the programme you will join a specific department in one of our key business areas, and work with a dedicated line manager working on real projects, that add value to our organisation and our international work. You will also take part in a group project, where you will be able to apply your project management and team working skills as well as receiving career advice and training that provide you with real direction and perspective to take away with you on completion of the programme.

Our 2015 scheme is made up of the following positions:
• Music and Film Internship, London
• Corporate Communications Internship, London
• Policy and External Relations Internship, London
• Digital Internship, London
• HR Internship, London
• Science Communications Internship, London
• Services for International Education Marketing Events Internship, Manchester
• Schools Internship, London
• English and Exams Self Access Learning (SAL) Digital Internship, London
• Global Network Team Internship, London
• Iran and Syria Internship, London

This is a fantastic opportunity to make the most of your summer, to develop your own cultural relations edge and to work for an organisation that really values diversity and innovation. Take a look around – there’s a whole world of opportunity to explore.
