Work placements funded by the Institute of Physics

Employers, academics and careers advisers often talk about the benefits of work experience and how it can boost your employability upon graduation. With this in mind, the Institute of Physics is offering 40 penultimate year students, studying for an undergraduate physics degree, the opportunity to receive funding for work placements carried out in the summer of 2012.  Successful applicants will receive £2, 000 for the duration of their eight week placement (£250.00 per week).  All you need to do is find your own work placement and apply for funding!
Work placements give you invaluable exposure to working in teams, meeting tight deadlines, learning about office politics, attending meetings, report writing and much more. Whilst carrying out your placement you will become an integral and valued member of the team.  The skills gained during your work placement will complement your educational achievements and extracurricular activities making for an impressive application form or CV – thus making you more employable upon graduation.
Competition to secure funding will be high so apply early.  Click here for more information about the Work Placements Scheme and to find out about the closing date.
