Intellectual Property: Advice for businesses in Wales

IP Wales / Capital Law
Inaugural Annual Lecture, 6th October 2011

IP Wales and Capital Law are working closely to enhance the provision  of advice and guidance to businesses in Wales on how best to protect and maximize the value of their Intellectual Property.

This collaboration will include an Annual IP Lecture programme aimed at the hundreds of Welsh businesses, particularly in the creative industries, for whom IP is an integral part of their operations, their professional advisors, IP practitioners and academics.

Professor Ian Hargreaves will be the speaker at the first lecture, following his government commissioned independent review of the UK’s Intellectual Property laws.  Professor Hargreaves was also commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government in 2009 to review the Creative Industries in Wales.  Chairing a question and answer session following the lecture will be Ron Jones, Executive Chairman of Tinopolis and Chairman of the Welsh Government’s Creative Industries Sector Panel.

Professor Hargreaves is the chair of the Digital Economy at the Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies and Cardiff Business School.  He is a former editor of The Independent, deputy editor of the Financial Times and was a founding non- executive board member of Ofcom.
